Jim Macleod CB CVO

Jim adopts a calm and person-centred approach to coaching. His coaching philosophy is based upon a view that personal growth occurs best when people have the opportunity and space to really challenge themselves. His coaching sessions help clients evoke clear visions and identify any self-limiting beliefs to assist them develop their own plans of action. With an approach that brings a warmth and ease to his sessions, he creates a psychologically safe environment for even the most challenging conversations. By blending coaching techniques alongside his own life experience, Jim supports his clients build their confidence, and skills. Further, by helping his clients grow their learning mindset, they develop the capability to self-coach long after the sessions have finished.
He usually works with individuals in leadership roles from across the public, private and third sectors; but his easy style makes him accessible to the widest range of clients. Jim has experience in supporting people in complex and challenging leadership positions develop their confidence, overcome obstacles, and thrive in demanding roles. He works well with complexity and can help clients see clarity in complex problems. Jim also supports up and coming leaders to accelerate their careers by helping them build their capacity, resilience, and ability to keep learning. Additionally, Jim has a deep interest in gender diversity and has been extremely successful in coaching women moving into more senior leadership roles.
Jim is an accomplished leader who retired from the Royal Navy as a Rear Admiral in summer 2022. He now works in leadership development and coaching and is the Chair of Forces in Mind Trust, a major military charity. He has a proven track record in leadership development, leading strategic business change, solving complex organisational problems and bringing fun into the workplace; he brings this experience into his coaching to help his clients unlock their potential and develop their ability to learn, grow and succeed.
As a coach he receives professional supervision from i-coach academy and adheres to the International Coach Federation (ICF) code of conduct. He lives in Hampshire, with his wife, two young children and a recently acquired cocker spaniel puppy.
