Hugh Moss
Hugh has been described as flexible, engaging and committed with an inclusive sense of fun and alternative perspectives that allows clients to broaden their thinking and approach. He brings over 16 years’ experience as an executive coach with a passion for evolutionary leadership and a love of working with senior executives to energise collaborative business performance and value creation.
In a supportive, appropriately challenging relationship, clients are encouraged in a pragmatic process of self-discovery in which they experience deep awareness and breakthrough, often in self-limiting thinking. Practical application of insights leads to increasingly enriched relationships and the inspired engagement and development of the teams they lead to ‘partner’ with client organisations and co-create sustainable, transformational value, on Purpose.
He works appreciatively with strengths to create success from the inside-out and future-back, aligning values, purpose and vision with business focused outcomes. With a wholesome understanding of the psychotherapeutic underpinnings of coaching, his approach is informed by the principles of Gestalt, Psychosynthesis and healthy systems inquiry. As a Conversational Intelligence® Enhanced Skills Practitioner he enables clients to shift the dial from ‘Protect’ to ‘Partner’ and understand that each and every conversation is essential to nurturing relationships and building cultures in which people thrive.
Hugh is a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) receives regular supervision for his practice and subscribes to the ICF Code of Ethics. He is a GTCI Systemic Team Coaching Practitioner and an accredited facilitator in Practical Appreciative Inquiry. He completed his Advance Executive Coaching Diploma with the AoEC in 2006. Psychometric accreditations include Hogan Assessments; MBTI Step I & II; Barrett Cultural Transformation Tools; Emotional Capital Report and StrengthScope.
His rich business experience has been gained serving colleagues and clients and through leading multidisciplinary international teams. Hugh’s industry experience crosses professional services, media, energy, finance, public sector, travel and hospitality – this includes 15 years working at director level for Disney and News Corporation (ESPN Star Sports) in Asia. His client work includes Deloitte, Shell, EFG International, AVIVA, European Railway Agency and Premier Farnell. Recent ongoing work with Deloitte includes nine years as an executive coach on the Deloitte University EMEA’s flagship LCSP Development Programme and as Lead Coach since 2016/7.
Hugh's leadership experience is enriched by his academic study and over 30 years of deep personal and professional learning in the outdoors through Outward Bound; as a mountaineer/expedition lead with ascents in the Himalaya, European Alps, and Moroccan Atlas; as facilitator 2041’s Leadership on the Edge programme in Antarctica and founder New Leaders in Sustainability - school Alpine expeditions exploring systemic wellbeing at individual, societal and global levels.
On a personal note, Hugh is married and, in absence of children, nurtures relationship with exuberant Irish Terriers. He is based in the Yorkshire Dales where he actively walks, cycles and swims in rivers.
