Dr Roger Maitland
Roger partners with senior leaders navigating career and organisational transitions, helping them develop the clarity, confidence and strategic capability needed to lead at increasing levels of complexity. With extensive international coaching experience across five continents, he supports leaders through change, growth and transformation.
He believes there are always new ways to make sense of ourselves and our circumstances. Working systemically, he helps clients understand the organisational, relational and cultural dynamics influencing leadership effectiveness, enabling them to lead authentically whilst achieving both professional success and personal fulfilment.
Roger combines structured coaching frameworks with a flexible approach tailored to each client's context. He focuses on leadership transitions, stakeholder management, strategic thinking, leadership presence and navigating organisational change. His coaching helps leaders build confidence, strengthen relationships and deliver sustainable results in complex environments. Roger has also led organisation-wide coaching capability programmes and supervised coaching panels.
He works with senior managers, directors, executives and C-suite leaders across media, financial services, technology, pharmaceuticals, energy, retail and FMCG sectors. Organisations include the BBC, Nielsen, Google, Apple, Pfizer, Accenture, Standard Bank, Woolworths, Old Mutual and Sanlam.
Roger is an EMCC Global Master Practitioner coach with over 20 years' experience developing leaders and professional coaches. He holds a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Cape Town and an MA in Coaching from Middlesex University. He is a research fellow and visiting lecturer at Stellenbosch Business School and is accredited in the Korn Ferry ESCI and other assessment tools. His background includes startups, social entrepreneurship and higher education.
