Dr Emma Sedgwick

Emma has a rare background for a coach, having trained as a doctor and having experience of business. With her medical and psychiatric background, she brings a wealth of experience of people. She has seen people at their best and worst and now enjoys helping people achieve their best.
Emma knows how our brains and bodies interact and helps people make significant changes. Whilst she is clear about the boundaries between coaching and therapy, she helps people appreciate how their patterns of behaviour have been established and what they need to do to change these for the better. She has an extensive toolkit to bring about effective change, including an emotional literacy model, to raise people’s awareness of their emotional state and to develop resilience.
Most of her coaching work is 1:1, however, she also offers group coaching. The people Emma works with describe her as professional, calm and a deep listener. They also say she is able to strike the right balance between being supportive and challenging.
Emma’s areas of expertise are resilience and mental health, confidence and Imposter Syndrome, transition to a new role and those who may have a need for increased awareness and behavioural change.
Since 2008 Emma has coached in a wide variety of sectors, including not only healthcare, but Professional Services (Deloitte and Clifford Chance), Retail, (John Lewis and M&S) Consumer Goods (Unilever), Pharmaceuticals (GSK), Media, Global Philanthropy and Universities (UCL).
Emma is accredited as a Master Executive Coach by the Association for Professional Executive Coaching and Supervision (APECS), the UK’s leading executive coaching organisation, and abides by its ethical standards.
“The learnings from our coaching sessions are still very much alive and helping me today - and that is a testament to the skill that Emma has. Emma brought that (sometimes) uncomfortable challenge to look at my actions, step into others' shoes and face into what I needed to change. Supportive, friendly and professional, Emma is your partner through personal challenge and change - I would highly recommend her.”
“Emma is excellent as a coach. She put me completely at ease; quickly got to the heart of the issue; gave me valuable frameworks to analyse problems and work up solutions. She has been a huge help.”
“Emma is a truly excellent coach. Her approach was extremely effective in allowing me to understand my role within the team, recognise my strengths and weaknesses and develop a clear career pathway to reach my ambitions.”
