Angela Backlaw

MSc, FCIPD

Angela has many years of experience in personal and organisational development, leadership, change, wellbeing and resilience. Before launching her own company she held a series of senior positions in the civil service, latterly as Head of Talent Development at the Department of Health. Angela is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, holds a Certificate in Organisation Development from the NTL Institute and a MSc in Human Resources. She is a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and a Practitioner of Hypnotherapy and Time Line Therapy.

Angela’s coaching focuses on an appreciative and integral approach. She believes wholeheartedly that people are the experts on themselves, that usually they don’t need advice or other people’s ideas, that they have within them all the knowledge, skill and ability they need in order to move forward, and what they may need is help to reveal and access those resources consciously. She is expert in the use of Jung’s archetypes in supporting people to understand and express their true and unique selves.

Having a portfolio career is important to Angela, who – in addition to her learning and development work – is a contemporary singer, songwriter and producer, who teaches songwriting at degree level for the Institute for Contemporary Music Performance. She is also a member of the premier vocal harmony group The Mike King Collective, who have performed with leading artists such as Mark Ronson, Florence Welch, Angelique Kidjo and Boy George. Angela has a husband, a cat plus a passion for travel and longs to visit each of the seven continents; so far it’s five down, two to go…
