Peter Shapiro

Peter is a coach and consultant for MBA, EMBA and senior executive leadership development programs at IMD (Switzerland), SKOLKOVO (Russia) and CEIBS (China) business schools. He is a former University of Maryland faculty member where he taught undergraduate and graduate-level leadership courses and was the founder and director of the University’s Rawlings Center for Public Leadership at the James MacGregor Burns Academy of Leadership.

In addition, Peter has extensive public leadership experience. He is the Executive Director of the Revenue Authority of Prince George’s County, Maryland and is also a member of the Zoning Commission of the District of Columbia. He is also a recovering politician, serving six years (two terms as chair) on the Prince George’s County Council and two years as Advisory Neighbourhood Commissioner in Washington, DC.

He is a phi beta kappa graduate of the University of Maryland (B.S. African-American Studies) and in 1995 was awarded the Truman Scholarship for Leadership and Public Service. He has also earned a graduate Certificate in Leadership and Organizational Behaviour from the International Forum for Social Innovation (Paris, France). Peter is a qualified administrator of a number of psychometric assessment and leadership development tools including: Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Denfeld 360, Leadership Effectiveness Assessment, and Personal Directions.

Peter lives in Washington, DC with his wife and step-children.
